Wine tasting

At Milea winery

Greece has a long history of winemaking with its own distinguished grape varieties. Wine tasting is always fun and can be delightful!

Milea Winery is just 15 minutes away in Argalasti. The family-run winery produces excellent, prize winning wines. Their flagship white is an elegant, fruity Chardonnay with a perceptible minerality, perfect for lazy summer lunches and lengthy seafood dinners. Their rosé this year has beautifully balanced acidity and the faintest blush of peach hue. They also produce three eminently drinkable reds: a Merlot with a perfect hint of French oak to complement its deep berry aromas, a fruity Merlot/Syrah and a wonderfully delicious Pinot Noir, quite different from the Greek norm of wines.

The wines of Miliea for wine tasting

On Saturdays, Argalasti has a “Laiki Agora“, a people’s market. Shop for local fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, poultry, fish and seafood, eggs and cheese, yogurt,  an array of olives, local honey, herbs, teas, spices, local Tsipouro or Raki,  wine, olive oil, dried legumes. You can also find non-food items like kitchenware, clothing, linens, tools, plants, toys, shoes, gadgets. It’s a varied and endless list. The history of the marketplace or Agora dates back to ancient Greece. It was the center of daily life where people met to trade goods, conduct business or just hang out with friends, much like today.

Combine a trip to the Laiki with a visit to Milea winery. You’ll find a haven of picture perfect vineyard peace after the bustle of the street market. Sip on their delicious wines and you’ll feel utterly soothed.
